Penang Port Commission Hosting Official Meetings By The Ministry Of Transport Malaysia

Penang Port Commission has been chosen to host several official meetings organised by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia.The meetings are MS ISO/IEC 27001:2007 Informatioan Security Management System (ISMS)Working Meeting, ICT Steering Committee for Information Technology and Communication (JPICT) Committee Meeting and Working Meeting on Web Site. The ISMS Working Meeting will be held at Penang Port Commission head office at Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT) on 27-29 February 2012. Some 30 participants from various port authorities in Malaysia will be attending the meeting. The Ministry of Transport will be also having its ICT (JPICT) Committee Meeting here at SPCT on 1st March 2012. The meeting will be chaired by Dato' Yap Kin Sian, Deputy Secretary General (Operation), Ministry of Transport Malaysia and will be attended by 30 participants from various agencies under the Ministry of Transport Malaysia. Meanwhile on 2nd March 2012, the Ministry of Transport Malaysia will be having a Working Meeting on Web Site also in SPCT. This meeting will be attended by some 30 participants from various agencies under the Ministry of Transport Malaysia. |

Penang Port Commission Launched Quality Environment Practices (5s)

Penang Port Commission (PPC) has launched its Quality Environment Practices (5S) on 9 February 2012. The launching ceremony was held at PPC's office in Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal and has been officiated by the General Manager, Mr. Noor Ariff Yusoff. The term '5S' is derived from the 5 (five) Japanese words i.e Seiri (Sort), Seiton (Set in order), Seiso (Shine), Seiketsu (Standardise) and Shitsuke (Sustain). These concepts are the foundation of industrial housekeeping and workplace organisation. |

Students From Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Tajul Ariffin Visited Penang Port Comission

A total of 36 students and four teachers from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Tajul Ariffin, Kuala Kangsar Perak visited Penang Port Comission on 28 October 2011. During the visit, they were briefed on the history of Penang Port Commission as well as career opportunities in port industry. |

Penang Port Commission Hosted Annual Dinner

Penang Port Commission hosted its annual dinner at the Northam Suite Hotel on 17 November 2011. The event was attended by more than 200 invited guests including Penang Port Commission's board of directors, senior officers from government agencies, private sectors, port users as well as officers and staff of Penang Port Commission. Chairman of Penang Port Commission, Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek in his welcoming address expressed his appreciation to all parties for their contributions and support in ensuring the success of Penang Port. Also present at the annual dinner was Secretary General of Ministry of Transport, Dato' Long See Wool. |

World's Largest Floating Book Fair Logos Hope Called at Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal

The world's largest floating book fair, Logos Hope arrived at the Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal and will be in Penang Port until 25 September 2011. This inaugural visit to Malaysia is in conjuction with the book fair and exhibition on board the vessel that will be opened to public from 25 August to 25 September 2011. The ship will exhibit half a million of books and will have a wide selection with 5,000 different titles ranging from education, technology, history, philosophy, art, cookery and fiction to a selection of children's book as well. The book fair is open to public from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm everyday, and will be closed on every monday. The entrance pass is RM1 for adult and free entrance for children aged 12 and below. |
