Bulk cargo terminal with specialized facilities for dangerous goods and dry bulk cargo
Prai Bulk Cargo Terminal (PBCT) is a major conventional cargo facility of Penang Port, located near to Penang Bridge. It is dedicated primarily to handling dry bulk cargo (like grains, minerals and other unpackaged goods) and liquid bulk cargo, with berths and storage areas tailored for such commodities.
| BERTH | LENGTH (IN METRE) |
|---|---|
| BCT1 | 11 |
| BCT2 | 11 |
| BCT3 | 11 |
| INNER BERTH | 7.5 |
| DG BERTH | 11 |
The development of the liquid bulk terminal at Prai Wharf will ease current storage constraints at PBCT, though additional landside tank farms will be required to meet future demand. Any increase in volume will also necessitate upgrades to DG quay capacity, including a proposed 40-metre extension of the existing DG berth to accommodate larger vessels, alongside selected repair and upgrading works to enhance terminal security.
